Baltimore has forged its own distinct identity in the independent music scene. The city has spawned some of the following acts: Animal Collective, Dan Deacon, Lungfish, OXES, Spank Rock, OTR, and Cex. The city has played host to the Whartscape Music Festival and also the 2007 Virgin Music Festival.
