Brooklyn

It's important to distinguish the Brooklyn's scene and acknowledge the contribution made by this particular community. By 2002, artists such as the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Girls Against Boys, Liars, and Les Savy Fav, had gained national attention. Since then, numerous musical acts have emerged from or emigrated to Brooklyn. Some of these acts include: The Hold Steady, TV on the Radio, Bishop Allen, Say Hi To Your Mom, Enon, USAISAMONSTER, Oneida, Parts & Labor, Animal Collective, Japanther, Prurient, Ex Models, and Deadbeat Darling.

Stay Positive

Well, here I am just getting around to a review of the latest release from The Hold Steady.

Generally I like the album. Its not my favorite but its generally a steady effort. My question is, is it too soon to get self-referential and nostalgic? Or at least, is it too soon to get consciously self-referential and nostalgic.

That's one of the many issues I'll ponder during this song by song review of Stay Positive.

I may even be daring enough to summarize my thoughts at the end.
