The Long Island area has spawned a number of hardcore and emo bands. It is known for the hardcore band Glassjaw and emo band Taking Back Sunday and the indie band Brand New, each of whom now have major label contracts. Other new age bands from Long Island include Crime in Stereo, Bayside, The Sleeping, Patent Pending, and From Autumn to Ashes.
