Rising bands such as Tapes 'n Tapes and Halloween, Alaska are only the tip of the iceberg that is the Minneapolis indie scene, with the notable record label Afternoon Records at the helm of such development.Lifter Puller was based out of Minneapolis and many of the songs of Brooklyn based The Hold Steady feature Minneapolis as the central location and major "character" in their songs.Prince was one of many breakthrough artists to put Minneapolis on the map as a major music scene.
