Austin is the host of the annual SXSW (South By South West) festival that showcases a large variety of independent artists across many different venues in the city. The city itself has spawned the following bands: Spoon, ?And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead, Jeff Klein, Ian Moore, Goudie, Canvas, Pushmonkey,Zykos, Okkervil River, Butthole Surfers, Scratch Acid, Big Boys, Alpha Rev, Voxtrot, The Black Angels, Ghostland Observatory, Daniel Johnston, David Garza, The Sword and Shearwater.
